Ich bin mich schon einige Zeit mit der Suche um eine gute deutsche Bauanleitung für meinen 800XL beschäftigt. Auch habe ich nach fertig konfektioniertem Kabel/Adapter geGOOGeLEt - fehlanzeige (spez. zu Letzterem)! Wenn man schon einen Adapter (oder komplettes Kabel) selber basteln muß - warum setzt man nicht einfach gleich eine Buchse wie diese ...

... ein, man könnte dann ein einfaches SVideo Kabel, wie sie immer noch im Handel erhältlich sind, einsetzen! Pinbelegung:


Platz dafür gibt es genug an der Gehäuserückseite - zumindest bei den kleineren XL ...

i have a 600xl ntsc and i see some unpoplated components in video area, can do this mod? or need to be populated the missing component first and apply the svideo mode? if need add the missing component can you tell me please whats components need?

Here a picture of removed components i see, and i removed for start the rf modulator and switch,

the NTSC version of the 600XL had no parts at all in the video circuit.

please google for "SUPER VIDEO 2.1 XL Errata"
and you'll find the whole story (and instructiosn of course) behind the video mods for all XL and XE machines.

"SUPER VIDEO 2.1 XL Errata" means "SUPER VIDEO 2.1 XL" instructions including the "Errata" (corrections), because the original version(s) of "SUPER VIDEO 2.1 XL" had some mistakes in them. Download the whole thing, look for the 600XL chapter (it written for NTSC machines) and build as described. Look at the corrections (if any for this machine) on the last page.

Good luck and much fun building, it is definitely worth the effort.

PS the instructions above are for the PAL (Europe) Versions of the 600XL, which had the video circuits populated already. Only need to change a few parts, cut a trace on the board and make a new connection to the plug.

weil man vielleicht seinen Atari nicht durch eigene Bohrlöcher verschandeln will und die Signale in der Belegung der Originalbuchse (s. Atari Profibuch PDF Seite 316 vielleicht nicht vorhanden aber definiert sind?

Ferner habe ich festgestellt, daß die meisten (meiner) gekauften S-Video-Kabel eine Scheiß-Qualität sind. Viel zu hochohmig und mitunter ohne Schirmung. Wahrscheinlich wurde da das Plastik von innen mit einem Bleistift angemalt...

Ich rate dazu, alte HQ VGA-Kabel oder noch besser RGB-BNC-Kabel zu schlachten. Da sind die Videoleitungen richtig fett, einzeln abgeschirmt und der Strom wird noch über echtes Kupfer geleitet.

Dem kann ich beipflichten - was einem da teilweise als "High Quality" verkauft wird, ist manchmal eine Frechheit. Ich habe schon Kabel gehabt, die hatten in der Tat noch nicht einmal eine einfachste Abschirmung. Mitunter ist ein popelig aussehende Billigkabel qualitativ besser als ein teures, hochwertig aussehendes, als High End angepriesenes Kabel.
